Each year, all members of the Caio Terra Association are invited to San Jose, California to connect with our teammates and learn from some of the highest-level practitioners of our art. This year was extra special because our most recent Black Belt Ahmed Orozco and his fiancee Denitria were able to attend, train, and make new friends as well!
Being able to connect with students and friends from around the world is one of the best aspects of going to camp. Each year we see students from New Zealand, China, Suriname, Canada, Korea, and so many more countries in addition to all of those that we have here in the United States.
Our schedule is filled with Professor Caio sharing his technical insight as we sharpened our swords both as practitioners and instructors. The talented students from headquarters were so helpful, from Mason Fowler and Mateus Moraes to Joao Nicolite and Rudson Mateus. Each of them assisted in sparring sessions and answered questions about specific techniques along the way.
Camp was concluded with the IBJJF San Jose Open, which was a huge event for both the team and our own Head Instructor, Professor Collin! After dedicating the last seven years to building the academy and investing in its students, he returned to competition with his teammates and won Gold! It took a lot of hard work from a lot of special people, and he couldn’t be more appreciative of everything that went into it. On top of that, CTA was crowned the tournament champion in both the Gi and No-Gi divisions!
We’re already counting down to Camp #12 in 2026, so if you’re interested in attending, speak with Professor about planning for it…this is something special that everyone should experience! OSS!
