The roots of all martial arts styles are grounded in Self Defense. Being able to survive, escape and even fight back in a bad situation are all critical skills that everyone should know regardless of age. This week we will start with a very common situation, both from standing and on the ground – the Side Headlock or Kesagatame Position.
On Wednesday, we will work from underneath the Side Control Position and focus on improving to the Closed Guard. We will begin by discussing some different methods of preventing our opponent from advancing their position, then ensure that we are able to get back on Offense by escaping our hips and using frames.
