This week we start our two-week series working from the Half Guard position. The Half Guard is one of the most dynamic positions in all of Jiu-Jitsu, because there are so many different opportunities for advancement from there. Whether we are looking to take our opponent’s back, sweep them to top position, or even attack a submission, it’s all there!
On Monday and Tuesday, we’ll focus on securing an underhook and advancing to the back. In the event our opponent stops our attempt with a whizzer, we can sweep them!

On Wednesday and Thursday, we will focus on a more defensive look at the position. If our opponent is able to flatten us, we will work to either recover Closed Guard or perform a variation of the Upa.

No-Gi Classes will be focused on Half Guard as well, with lots of transitional work in our Advanced/Competition Class too!
