Following up on our Catucada Lesson Plans where we swept our opponent into the Mount position, we’ll be starting on the defensive end of this exchange with some escapes from here. Many times, we will have to escape incrementally, working from Mount to 3/4 Mount and then to Half Guard before we can begin to think about offensive options. On Monday and Tuesday, we’ll focus on this concept as well as some movements to assist us in learning the technique more easily.

On Wednesday, we’ll address another method of escaping – and also how to counter it! The Hip Press Escape is an excellent way to move from the Mount position to either the Single Leg X- or even Butterfly Guard positions…which we’ll be covering soon as well! The second half of this Lesson Plan addresses maintaining the Mount and even counterattacking with an Ezequiel Choke!
