NONE SHALL PASS – unless you get to class! We finished last week by introducing the Open Guard and this week we’ll discuss how to pass it. Two of the most versatile styles of passing the Guard utilize underhooks on your opponents’ legs to control their mobility. Our first Lesson Plan introduces this concept the Single Under Pass.
On Wednesday, we’ll progress to controlling both legs with the Double Under Pass. Both of these methods require patience in order to get the full benefit of the technique – the pressure generated while passing should both ease the process of reaching their hip and fatigue them as well.
In No-Gi Class we’ll address passing the Seated Guard as well, so make sure you get into class this week – we’ve gotta a whole lotta passing going on!
