Our Lesson Plans this week continue from the Half Guard position. Dealing with a mobile opponent can make it very difficult to pass their Guard, so that’s where opening up our own hips comes into play. Once in this position, it makes it far easier to pass with options either to Side Control or Mount.
If passing to Side Control, one of the options from there is to transition to the Katagatame Position. By opening our hips and sliding them forward, we have the opportunity to attack our opponent’s arm with a tight armlock!
