Earlier this month, our CT Kids had the opportunity to share their Jiu-Jitsu with the people most important to them – their families! Our youth staff used the week to work with the kids on their Breakfalls and Bear Hug Escapes, two of the strongest self defense techniques in our curriculum.
Learning how to fall down and not get injured, absorbing the impact correctly and standing up in a defensive posture was the focus of our warmups. The kids were super helpful as they remembered the details perfectly, helping their guests get introduced to the lesson and learn a new skill.
From there, we moved to addressing how to escape from a Rear Bear Hug – with both arms trapped or if they are free. We had an amazing time adding the escape details before even moving into an easy trip to off balance your partner. A lot of instruction took place, and most of it was from our own CT Kids! One Team, One Family, and SO MUCH FUN!
