This past weekend was full of incredible events and amazing people from beginning to end! On Friday night, the team of Alejandro Dolz, Nujan Shrestha, Miguel Macias, Paul Balensiefen and Yuri Simoes all put their skills on display at Gilley’s at Fight2Win 207. All five gentlemen represented CTA with the heart and technique of champions, making for a memorable night under the lights.
With nearly 50 students, families, and friends in the crowd, the noise and energy was absolutely awesome! The support for our competitors before, during and after their fights only reinforced our motto – One Team, One Family!
On Saturday, 2-time ADCC Champion Yuri Simoes spent the afternoon teaching some of his favorite methods of passing the guard and also some takedown strategies as well. Yuri shared several details that have helped him in his career, and spent time to ensure everyone in attendance was able to clearly understand the material.
Towards the end, he answered a few questions and even trained a few rounds with some of our students! What an experience – thanks Yuri!
To top things off, UFC 277 was also in Dallas over the weekend! From the fights in the octagon to our amazing friends with us in attendance – there were so many unforgettable memories made at the American Airlines Center on Saturday night. To hear Bruce Buffer’s “IIIIIITTTT’SSSS TIIIIIIIMMMMMEEE!!” live and in person was absolutely surreal!
This past weekend was filled was so much action and so many events, but the biggest and best part of it all was who we were able to spend all of this time with. Moments become memories because of the people around you, and there’s no better group than those around us here at CTA Irving.
I’m so proud of what we have created, and so excited about where we are heading. Through our commitment to each other and our craft, 2022 is going to be closed out with a bang!
